Our Mission
We were never meant to live out our faith on our own. The Bible teaches that part of having a relationship with God is having a relationship with other Christians. It is difficult if not impossible to have a great relationship with God without the fellowship of other Christians. The very nature of the church is that of a family, the family of God. We are a community of believers, a local congregation committed to loving God, and loving one another. “And God gave us this command: Those who love God must also love their brothers and sisters. Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is God’s child, and whoever loves the Father also loves the Father’s children.” —I John 4:21-5:2
Ministry is very simply, “Meeting needs with love.” We all have different personalities, different experiences in life, different abilities, different gifts from God, different things we love and are passionate about. Each of these will effect who we are and where God would place us in ministry, for both our fulfillment and the service of others, but the Bible is clear that each one of us is a minister with an important role in God’s family. “Now God gives us many kinds of special abilities, but it is the same Holy Spirit who is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service to God (ministries), but it is the same Lord that we are serving.” I Corinthians 12:4-5
We believe God calls us to more than just to make a decision to accept His salvation (“a ticket to Heaven”, someday). He also calls us to follow Jesus now. This is a growing with Christ and a growing understanding of God’s way for our lives. “Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity.” Hebrews 6:1 “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” —2 Peter 3:18:21-5:2
The ultimate purpose of everything we do is to exalt God through Jesus Christ. We believe we were created to worship God, and our lives will be unfilled and empty if we seek to achieve any other ultimate end. “We were created to worship and glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.” “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and His worshippers must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24
