Hi Friends!

So, as you may or may not have heard, on Sunday, March 11th, we will be having one service at 11:15am, then immedietly following it, our Youth will be hosting a spaghetti Dinner and a Silent Auction to raise funds for their 2012 Mission Trip to Washington DC!

The auction will be open to any and all members of DFMC, and ALL of your friends, neighbors, relatives, acquaintances, mechanics, milk men, mail people, pretty much everyone you know! It will be a fun day of food, friends, fellowship, and hopefully winning some cool stuff!

So, here’s how you can help us out, if you would like to:

1) Just come to the dinner/auction! The way the auction works is you get a number, then you can bid on any item in the auction. Then, once the bidding ends, if you are the highest bidder, you get the item! If you’re not, nothing gained, but nothing lost! So come on out and bid! Again, all proceeds go directly towards the 2012 Summer Sr. High Mission Trip to DC!

2) Donate items to be bid on! All youth attending the trip are recquired to donate at LEAST 2 items, and for the rest we are asking you, members of DFMC! Some of the items you can donate include: hand-made things (quilts, scarves, hats, etc.), dinners, gift baskets, weekend at your cottage (if you have one!), perhaps a gift you got for Christmas but have no use for, or anything really! Say you’re a wood-worker, perhaps a hand-made cabinet? Or if you own a boat, perhaps a fishing trip? Anything really that you think people might bid on!

3) Of course, as always, pray! We have a lot of students interested in this trip, and the total cost per student is around $550! So please pray that we can raise the funds to make this trip open and available to any teen that would like to attend!

Some items we’ve already had donated:

1) A gourmet French Dinner

2) A Steak Dinner

3) A hand-made lap-blanket

4) Jewelry

5) Gift/sweets basket that retails at $100

Just some ideas! So think about it, pray about it, and hopefully we’ll see you all March 11th!

Sign up deadline is March 25th, by then we need forms and a $100 deposit, which we hope will be all you have to pay!

If you’re interested, let Pastor Mark know via email (dfmcyouth@gmail.com) to start getting information on Fundraising opportunities, and all updates regarding the trip! Hope you can come with us and feed the hungry, clothe the naked, help the sick, and all the while hopefully tell some folks about Jesus Christ!

Also, FYI, here is a brief description of the camp we’ll be working at from our coordinator for the week, Josh:

Housing: You will be sleeping on bunk-beds so please bring sheets or sleeping bags to sleep on. There will be a max of about 20 per apartment. These apartments are unfurnished and have a shower and toilet in each. There will be other showers and bathroom facilities on other floors that you will be able to use. Please bring fans!
Worksites: The type of work we do in Washington DC is relational-based ministry.  The types of projects are generally things like: Homeless ministry, working with kids, soup kitchens, elderly and gleaning.  We work very hard to make sure your group get an overall experience of working different ministries, however, it is very hard to determine what that will look like in advance.    Because of all of these factors, you should be prepared for any of the above projects, and also understand that you will be given your project assignment upon arriving to camp. You are coming to serve and be the hands and feet of Jesus so please be FLEXIBLE!
